INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2025 – ACCELERATE ACTION

IWD 2025: Accelerating Action

In collaboration with London Stadium Associate Partnership and Leyton Orient Community Partnership, we recently had the privilege of sitting down with Chris, VM Elevators’ external dedicated AI and Data Protection Officer, for a conversation around this year’s International Women’s Day theme: Accelerating Action. During our discussion, Chris a business leader and strong advocate of women in tech, shares her personal experiences navigating a career in technology — a sector that, much like construction, has historically lacked strong female representation.

The importance of accelerating meaningful change cannot be overstated, especially when businesses across industries are being challenged to actively address the underrepresentation of women in fields like construction, engineering, and technology. Progress doesn’t happen by chance — it takes conscious effort, targeted initiatives, and leaders who are willing to champion equality at every level.

At VM Elevators, driving representation forward isn’t just a passing conversation; it’s embedded in the way the business operates. From ensuring women at VM Elevator’s are in senior management positions, to actively encouraging more female apprentices to enter the lift industry, VM Elevators is determined to be part of the solution. Their outreach work within local schools — particularly through hands-on STEM initiatives — aims to inspire the next generation of girls to pursue careers in engineering, technology, and other technical trades. By visibly representing women within their workforce, VM Elevators hopes to send a clear message: this industry belongs to everyone.

Whether you’re a leader shaping policy, a mentor offering guidance, a sponsor opening doors, or an ally using your voice to amplify others — every action counts. Together, we can break down outdated perceptions and build a future where gender is never a barrier to success.

This International Women’s Day, take a moment to celebrate the women who inspire you. Tag someone who has made a difference in your life, your career, or your community.

2025 Elevator Trends & Insights – Is Lift Modernisation the way forward?

2025 Lift Industry Trends and Insights: Is Lift Modernisation Shaping the Future of Vertical Transportation?

The lift industry continues to evolve rapidly, driven by technological innovations, sustainability, and shifting market dynamics. We’ve scoured market industry research to identify the top key trends and insights for 2025 that are shaping the future of vertical transportation.

Here’s a snapshot of what to watch for:

1. Market Growth and Global Expansion

According to a report from Grand View Research, the global elevator market was valued at approximately USD 79.06 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.7% through 2030. The Asia-Pacific region is leading the charge, fueled by urbanization and infrastructure investments, especially in China and India (Mordor Intelligence).

2. Smart Elevators and Technological Innovations

The rise of smart elevators is transforming user experiences. Equipped with energy-efficient solutions and advanced technologies—including biometric access, touch screens, and integrated access control—these elevators enhance both efficiency and convenience (IndustryARC).

3. Sustainable Design Leading the Way

Sustainability is continuing to be a hallmark of modern lift design. From luxurious finishes to durable, eco-friendly materials, 2025 is shaping up to be a year where aesthetics meet responsibility.

4. Industry Consolidation

Mergers and acquisitions are reshaping the competitive landscape. A notable example is Fujitec’s potential sale to private equity groups, highlighting a trend of consolidation within the elevator sector (Financial Times).

5. Modernisation Opportunities

With a growing number of aging elevators requiring upgrades, modernisation presents a significant opportunity. Industry experts predict that the demand for comprehensive overhauls of systems over 15 years old will increase annually, driving growth in modernisation services (Financial Times).

6. Addressing Workforce Challenges

A skilled workforce remains essential to support post-sales maintenance and modernisation efforts. However, the shortage of proficient technicians continues to challenge the sector’s growth (Mordor Intelligence).

As we progress through 2025, these trends highlight the lift industry’s dynamic landscape. Companies at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric solutions are best positioned to drive future success. Whether modernising existing infrastructure or embracing cutting-edge technologies, the future of vertical transportation looks promising.

VM Elevators Strengthens Community Ties with Leyton Orient Community Partnership

Leading provider of lift and escalator services in East London, VM Elevators, is proud to partner with the Leyton Orient Community Partnership in association with sports rights specialist, Eleven Sports Media. The Community Partnership reflects VM Elevator’s commitment to supporting the local community. By aligning with Leyton Orient, a Club rooted in the heart of the community, the company continues to demonstrate its dedication to helping those who live and work in the surrounding area.

VM will be able to promote its brand messaging across multiple digital displays and fan engagement platforms, including the high-impact Pitch-Facing LED, which is visible to match-going supporters in the grounds at Brisbane Road – just four stops away from the home of the lift and escalator expert. The company will also be able to connect with other local businesses owners in the East London area, through VIP Community Partner Events.

Established in London in 2008, VM Elevators is a premium, independent lift and escalator services provider that works with an array of business sectors. It caters to all lift and escalator requirements, including routine maintenance, callouts, repairs, modernisation, design, and new installation.

Regardless of industry or business size, VM prioritises personalised care and attention, ensuring each customer’s unique needs are met with tailor-made solutions. Its goal is to forge long-lasting relationships based on trust, transparency, reliability, and superior service delivery, ultimately contributing to the success and growth of its clients’ businesses.

The lift and escalator expert is fully dedicated to a high standard of craftmanship, working across a diverse scale of projects.

Recent contracts, like Pembroke House in Kensington Village and the Wood Green Diagnostic Centre, demonstrate VM’s full range of capabilities. At Pembroke House, a luxury commercial development in London, VM installed three bespoke passenger lifts, each crafted with a 1000kg capacity to meet both functional and aesthetic demands. The project highlights VM’s dedication to precision and premium installations in high-end settings.

In the healthcare sector, VM completed the installation of a 1350kg bed passenger evacuation lift at the Wood Green Diagnostic Centre, a vital NHS facility serving the Haringey community. The lift ensures reliable, efficient transportation for both patients and medical staff, supporting the centre’s goal of delivering accessible healthcare services. This project forms part of VM’s broader commitment to the Whittington Health NHS Trust, where it has been a trusted partner for several years, delivering critical lift solutions that enhance the operational infrastructure of essential healthcare facilities. VM’s ongoing maintenance services ensure that these systems continue to function seamlessly, contributing to the smooth running of healthcare operations and, ultimately, improving patient care.

As well as new installations, VM continues to provide industry-leading maintenance services for notable sites such as  the Business Design Centre, London County Hall and London Energy Ltd.

VM Elevators’ Managing Director, Simon Whitbread comments on VM’s commitment to continued high craftmanship and its adaptable skillset: “Our work spans a wide variety of sectors—commercial, industrial, public, real estate, residential and retail—reflecting our ability to meet the distinct needs of each environment.
